Quayside

The Quayside of Newcastle (and its sister town of Gateshead) is a hugely popular location in the city. Coming down from Newcastle city centre by Dean Street, you are greeted by the hugely impressive sight of the Tyne Bridge directly in front of you and the river that it crosses. One of the first things you will notice is the number of Bridges that span the river, with seven bridges linking Newcastle to Gateshead and this adds to the walk along the quayside as the natural geography of the Tyne valley
is added to by the Georgian, Victorian and modern buildings on both sides of the river (with the Sage Gateshead and the Baltic Centre for contemporary art being two that stand out). There are also a great number of locations for food and drink along the river walk with Trakol (under the Tyne Bridge on the Gateshead bank of the river) being a fantastic choice to wet your whistle at the end of a walk. If you are feeling more adventurous, you can also book in with CBK adventures and paddleboard or canoe down the Tyne on a tour of this fantastic river.
