Tucked away on the aptly named Edge Street in the Northern Quarter, Common is a favourite haunt of many in Manchester’s arts communities. The reason, essentially, is that everything they do is forward-thinking. From their top selection of beer to their rotating art exhibition to their array of poetry nights, musical performances and arts workshops, the bar do innovation well.

As is becoming a Record Store Day tradition, Common is teaming up with Piccadilly Records to bring you a special RSD event filled with live music. Aldous RH, CURRENTMOODGIRL and Fruit Tones will be hitting the stage from 5pm until 8pm, before Space Afrika and WH Lung take to the decks until 1am. Entry is free, and even better, if you show the bar staff a Piccadilly Records RSD receipt, you’ll get 10% off booze!

What’s more, thanks to the good people of Stone Berlin, one lucky attendee of this Common event will leave with two free tickets to see the one and only Metallica.

The staff over at Common tell us that their top three Record Store Day releases this year are:

  1. Ziad Rahbani – Abu Ali
  2. Various – Emotional Response – Positive Times Infinity (An Emotional Response Compilation)
  3. Bark Psychosis – Independency (Singles Collection)

We also round up Record Store Day at Eastern Bloc, Vinyl Exchange, Vinyl Fiction and Vinyl Revival.
