Bette Davis stars as a wealthy young woman who escapes her domineering mother in this classic melodrama selected to show as part of Classics at the Cottage this June.

Under the thumb of her bullying mother, Charlotte Vale (Davis) is meek and ungroomed…until she escapes to a sanatorium, and is taken under the wing of the kindly Dr Jaquith (Claude Rains) who helps her transform into an elegant, independent woman ready for love.

Praised for Max Steiner’s ravishing score, and its charismatic performances, Irving Rapper’s Now, Voyager is a proper slice of Old Hollywood.
