Leeds International Festival 2019

Sara Jaspan, Exhibitions Editor

Leeds International Festival, the UK’s leading metropolitan festival of new ideas and innovation, is back for its third year.

We’re still awaiting details of the 2019 line-up, but last time around it featured more than 50 events and 40 speakers over 15 days; spanning art, music, fashion, performance, debate, interactive gaming, and science and technology. Highlights included: Live at Leeds Festival, Helen Sharman OBE (the first Briton to travel into space) in conversation, a highly anticipated reincarnation of Leeds’ long-lost KAOS night, a rare screening of Charles Bryant’s silently seductive Salomé (1923) with live score by Haley Fohr of Circuit des Yeux, and a talk on sex robots by one of the UK’s foremost experts on human sexuality and technology.

Eclectic and brilliant – this young but critically acclaimed festival is not to be missed in 2019.
