At 85-years-old, Stockport Plaza has been around long enough to have seen the initial release of the pair of Universal classics they’ve got lined up for Halloween.

1941’s The Wolf Man stars Lon Chaney Jr. as a practical man who cannot comprehend the symptoms that befall him when he is attacked by a wolf. Made from a script which mixes spooks with tragedy and romance, this influential chiller also features the talents of Evelyn Ankers, Bela Lugosi and Claude Rains in a beefy cast.

Next, James Whale manages the rare feat of improving upon his original vision in the sequel to his 1931 film Frankenstein. Boris Karloff is back in The Bride of Frankenstein as the lovelorn monster persecuted and abused at every turn. Deeper, darker and more perverse than the original film, Whale ramps up the tragic horror for one of the horror genre’s high points.
