Test Card at The Hillary Step
Johnny James, Managing EditorFor those new to Test Card, it’s a project that aims to give a platform for artists working in the field of audio-visual performance. It’s been a couple of months now since Texture, the spiritual home of the project, unfortunately closed. To our recent delight, though, Test Card is being resurrected at The Hillary Step in just a couple of days.
The project offers a space in which audio-visual artists can freely explore the ways in which technology can be used to manipulate audio and visual content in a live setting. Since its birth a couple of years ago, it’s created and nurtured a burgeoning scene of artists in Manchester. It’s also attracted some impressive names, with Monolake being a particular highlight.
Adopting a slightly less formal structure than it’s had previously, Test Card is back in the form of a monthly meet up. Each event will be an open call, meaning that anyone can get involved. This is a really great opportunity for emerging audio-visual artists to showcase their work. And to top it all off, it’s free to all to attend. If you’ve never been to a Test Card before, why not head down to The Hillary Step on Tuesday!
