Sam Amidon at the Lawrence Batley Theatre
Chris HorkanNow over 15 years into his career, American multi-instrumentalist Sam Amidon visits Huddersfield for the first time on the final night of this year’s Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival. Amidon has been a prolific collaborator over the years, working with the likes of The National, Tune-Yards, Glen Hansard, Valgeir Sigurðsson, Nico Muhly and Beth Orton – whom he is married to.
This concert will be a departure from the re-working of traditional folk songs that Amidon is best known for, as he presents nine original compositions, assisted by an ensemble of hand-picked improvising musicians. It promises to a unique and challenging way to bring hcmf// 2017 to a close.
