Lancashire’s only producing theatre hosts exciting seasons of work featuring new writing and the classics in a converted church in central Lancaster. The Dukes is also a cinema, hosts gigs, talks and other special events, run a youth theatre and is a popular all day cafe bar.

Sheffield Hallam University’s The Void Cinema is specially designed to facilitate the showing of films in a vast range of formats.

With only 11 screens (only!), this is one of the smaller multiplexes in Greater Manchester – but its advantage is its location in the lush surrounds of Didsbury, not far from a roster of good bars, cafés and restaurants.

FACT Liverpool includes three arthouse cinemas, two galleries, event spaces – as well as an excellent ground-floor cafe and first-floor bar.
