Manchester Union Brewery 2nd Birthday
Ian Jones, Food and Drink Editor
Manchester’s first and only dedicated craft lager brewery, Manchester Union Brewery is throwing a party this Saturday 3rd July, featuring music from LOVE DOSE and plenty of free food. The event runs from midday up to 8pm, so if you’re hunting for that perfect place to be fed and watered in advance of the England game, look no further. But be quick, this is a charming and intimate venue, and spaces are first come first served.
Of course, their second birthday was due six months ago but a certain something meant it had to be postponed until now, and fate has conspired to make this day one of the highlights of the summer sporting season for many. For this mega party at the brewery’s taproom they’ve partnered up with Manchester music heroes LOVE DOSE for a DJ takeover.
The beer will be flowing all afternoon, showcasing Manchester Union’s award-winning lager and its bohemian black lager After Dusk served just meters away from where it is brewed. Alongside the brewery’s award-winning lagers, there will also be Verdant See Food & Dance IPA on tap for the occasion – a smooth and light IPA, but also impressively deep and rich with ripe flavours.

LOVE DOSE are the Manchester-based record label and events collective, who host irregular parties at venues including Hidden, Stage & Radio and Kanteena. They’ll be supplying the day’s tunes, alongside DJs such as Bobby Ganoush, Chan, Craig Campbell, Efenar, Kerouac, Nalu & Pollen.
Beehive Food and Pretzel & Spelt will be providing snacks including freshly baked pretzels and Manchester Eggs (pickled eggs wrapped in a mix of Bury black pudding and sage and onion sausage meat, all covered in breadcrumbs). The handmade snacks will be served free to any party-goer when they spend £10 or more at the bar. Entry to the event is free, and guests can just rock up on the day to join in the festivities – no bookings needed.
