This year welcomes the arrival of the year of the Ox. To celebrate the Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art has teamed up with artist Stephanie Jong to bring a lantern making workshop to the comfort of your home. By using readily available materials and simple techniques Stephanie will guide you through the process of creating three different lanterns. CFCCA would love to see your lantern creations, post a New Year lantern picture on social media and tag them to join in the fun.

Stephanie Jong is a British-born Malaysian Chinese artist, living and working in London. Specialising in ceramics under the alias ‘Jong Ceramics’, her work focuses on sculptural ceramics as well as hand-thrown minimal, useable and functional porcelain and stoneware ceramics that can be used in everyday life.

Her work is influenced by her background as a diasporic Chinese over four generations and the combination of the past and present East Asian, South East Asian and Western European history, culture, theory and practices. She is a self-taught ceramic artist with a background in contemporary art and art history. Having most recently graduated from the Royal College of Art with an MA, after completing her BA at the School of Oriental and African Studies, her sculptural ceramics can be found in private collections in the UK, Malaysia, Australia, Canada, Germany and Switzerland.
