Jeff Goldblum and Laura Dern star as dinosaurs run amok in Steven Spielberg’s original 90s film about a revolutionary new theme park. Experience Jurassic Park as never before at Manchester Museum’s family friendly screening this April. Held in the appropriately atmospheric surrounds of the museum’s fossil gallery, film fans can get closer than ever (sort of) as they are invited to walk with the dinosaurs in a Virtual Reality experience.
Scheduled for DNA Day in partnership with Double Helix History, Creative Manchester and the University of Manchester, this free event also includes a short pre-show discussion about issues raised in Spielberg’s film, and Michael Critchon’s source novel, such as de-extinction and the ethics of bioengineering. As Jeff Goldblum’s Ian Malcolm says, “Life will find a way.” — but should we help it along? Experts, Matthew Cobb, Konstantina Drousou and Jerome de Groot will be on hand to discuss.
The event is open to all ages but the film carries a PG certificate.
