For Build it Up!, Manchester-based theatre company Powder Keg will build a fully operational theatre in their backyard. Expect plush red curtains, lights that change colour, wings and hardwood floors.

Build it Up! is a durational 10-hour performance that encourages us to re-imagine the structures, functions and systems that define theatre.

Since 2013 Powder Keg have collaborated extensively and have presented work in theatres across the country, fields and online spaces. Creating visual and political performances that engage with empathy, care and survival as radical acts, Powder Keg were the proud recipients of the Royal Exchange Theatre’s Hodgkiss Award in 2016.
