Launched at the beginning of lockdown, BAM Online is a constantly refreshed space brimming with a thoughtfully curated selection of art, reading material, and creative activities for all ages. The content is inspired by Bury Art Museum and Sculpture Centre’s permeant collection and past exhibitions programme, bringing you closer to many of the works it remains home to while the gallery’s doors are closed. Whether you’re desperately craving culture, have some spare time to fill, or are looking for something to do with the kids, this is a good place to head.

We’re all about the themed nature of BAM Online Weekly, which has brought new perspectives on subjects as diverse as the colour red to the gesture of kindness, and offers an equally broad range of crafternoon suggestions, from Spaghetti Sunbeam printing to instructions on how to make a cardboard harp (for ‘little angels’). It also acts as an invaluable signpost to other great projects by local artists, organisations and initiatives to check out, as well as programmes to watch or listen to. Begin with the latest instalment or browse the rich back catalogue; then dip into BAM Online Short Reads – a series of beautifully written reflections and insights offering another look at many of the artworks that regular BAM visitors know and love.

For budding draughtswomen and men, BAM’s enduringly popular bi-monthly Sketchbook Social event (traditionally hosted at Bloom Coffee Co.) has also moved online, with informal activities and creative prompts posted daily. All abilities welcome.

Finally, enjoy an early taste of Anna Reading’s Mark Tanner Sculpture Award exhibition, The Pothole, which Bury plans to reopen with later this summer.
