Running from Runcorn to Leigh, the Bridgewater Canal is 65km long.

Built over 250 years ago by the Duke of Bridgewater, it is considered to be the first true canal in England. Constructed during the Industrial Revolution, the success of the Bridgewater Canal helped to inspire a period of intense canal building in Britain, known as Canal Mania.
