In a city well known for its music tradition, it isn’t surprising that you’re able to find live music of many forms every night of the week. However, there is nothing quite like sinking into a cosy armchair as a group of Jazz players playfully interweave solos, melodies and sometimes more experimental sounds. We’re spoilt for choice when it comes to Jazz in Manchester.
We’ve highlighted some of the regular jazz nights in the city which are popular for both those who just want to appreciate the music as well as musicians who are itching to get onstage.
Manchester’s jazz scene is filled with ensembles and individuals doing things for themselves in an old school DIY way, as well as well respected artists from the UK and abroad visiting the city to play. This guide gives you a cross section of the nights that happen on a weekly basis ranging from a high profile well programmed gig series to informal jams held in cosy bars and pubs.
Because of the ongoing Coronavirus crisis, we are unable to bring you our usual recommendations for things to do in Manchester and the North. We hope you stay well and look forward to sharing more unmissable events and places with you later in the year.
