Grimmfest Easter Edition

Tom Grieve, Cinema Editor

1 — 5 April 2021 Tickets from £38 — Book now

Grimmfest presents their inaugural Easter Edition this April, with five days of horror movies to enjoy from the comfort of your own home. The festival starts on Thu 1 April with UK premieres of Kourosh Ahari’s Iranian-American haunted hotel horror The Night (we’re told to expect The Shining vibes) and Lluis Danes’ The Barcelona Vampiress — a shocking reimagining of a real-life case.

From there, viewers can virtually line up for daily double bills stretching across the long Bank Holiday weekend, with ten feature film premieres from around the world, accompanied by short films, cast and crew Q&As, exclusive introductions and more. Amongst the events of note is a screening of Tyler Posey and Donald Sutherland in Johnny Martin’s high-octane shocker Alone, and a partnership with distributor Arrow Video that includes a screening of Justin McConnell’s anticipated Clapboard Jungle.

While the team at Grimmfest stress that they can’t wait to get back to putting on in-person events, they are still managing to ensure their online events maintain that collective aspect and communal feel that has made the festival such a success. As festival Director Simeon Halligan puts it: “Online, at home, but together in spirit.”
