Competition: WIN £30 of vouchers for Manchester Craft & Design Centre & a meal at its café

Suzy Prince

Enter our competition to win £30 of vouchers to spend at the Manchester Craft & Design Centre, plus a meal for two at its Oak St. Café, including a glass of wine each.

A visit to Manchester Craft & Design centre is always a delight. With 18 studio shops, and roughly 30 makers, artists and designers all housed in a former Victorian fish and poultry market, this is one of the finest places in Manchester to buy presents – for other people, and yourself. Better yet, when you’ve finished with your shopping endeavours, you can head to the ground floor Oak St. Café, which specialises in healthy vegetarian food, and some excellent cakes.

As if this wasn’t appealing enough, the centre is also now focusing on exhibitions, showcasing work which fuses art, craft and design. Next up, as part of the European City of Science celebrations, designer and researcher Amy Congdon has been exploring how tissue engineering could be used to grow new biological textiles for the fashion industry. Her exhibition Biological Atelier: The Showroom (9 June – 28 August) is a showcase of  exquisite jewellery and skincare that she’s produced, using potential new luxury and bespoke biological textiles. It’s absolutely stunning stuff, with some very big ideas at the heart of it: is this science fiction or a real glimpse into the future of fashion?

Now, we’re offering the chance to win £30 of vouchers to spend on the beautiful pieces at Manchester Craft & Design Centre, as well as lunch for two at Oak St Café, including a glass of wine each. To be in with a chance of winning, simply enter your details into the form below. The competition closes at 10am on Friday 27 May 2016. Best of luck!
