Competition: WIN whisky cocktails at Manchester Art Gallery

Manchester Art Gallery are hosting a Burn’s Night celebration at their next Thursday late – enter our competition to win one whisky cocktail each for you and three friends.

Whisky lovers, lend me your ears – this one’s for you. In celebration of Burns’ Night, Manchester Art Gallery is dedicating its next late opening on Thursday 22 January to “whisky cocktails and Scottishness”. Kicking off at 6.30pm will be a free tour by curator Hannah Williamson of A Highland Romance: Victorian Views of Scottishness, an exhibition that explores the evolving way in which Scotland has been portrayed in art. Visitors can then enjoy specially created whisky cocktails, some of which will include honey from the gallery’s own hives.

Featuring works by both Scottish and English artists, including 19th-century works on paper, the exhibition includes many of the stereotypes common in Victoria art, such as stag hunts, tartan and castle ruins – but it also questions how representative these stereotypes really were. Scotland has, however, retained its reputation for outstanding whisky: enter our competition to win a cocktail for yourself and three friends (four in total, one per person, folks).
