The Art of the City. Photo competition.

Can you help capture the art of the city? We launch our open photography competition today to find out.

We are very proud to announce the launch of our own open photography competition, which kicks off today. Based around the theme The Art of the City, we’re inviting anyone who thinks they’re a dab hand at snapping to send us the photographs that they think surprise, inspire or capture the phrase The Art of the City.  And this is not a Manchester-specific competition. Much as we love and are continually inspired/infuriated by our hometown, this competition is open to anyone from any city around the world.

The winner of the competition will win a luxury break in Manchester (which includes accommodation at the Radisson Edwardian and a meal for two at the City Café), a signed Don McCullin exhibition book and tickets for a special photography debate that accompanies the major exhibition, Shaped by War: Photographs by Don McCullin. On top of that, the winner and three runner-ups will see their images produced as a free limited edition set of Creative Tourist postcards.

Our judging panel includes Christian Payne, the photography, video and social technology expert otherwise known as @documentally; Paul Herrmann, director of the photography network Redeye, and Creative Tourist’s Susie Stubbs.

This competition is now closed. The winner will be announced on shortly.
