Top Northwest Designers to Watch.

‘Made in Britain’ is still something to be proud of. Laura Mansfield celebrates the best independent craft designers in her list of the top Northwest designers to watch – plus enter our competition and win an exclusive tote bag by the Salford design label, Mr. PS.

1. Seaside design from Megan Price, Mr. PS

The Salford-based designer behind the very British designs of the Mr. PS label (see right) has just made the move from craft fair circuit to high street, courtesy of an order from Liberty’s. Read more about Megan Price in our exclusive interview.

2. Baby clothes by Nell Smith

Based in Manchester’s Craft and Design centre, Nell Smith’s hand printed baby clothes and accessories (see main image, above) are a refreshing alternative to high street styles.

3. Folk-inspired ceramics by Katrin Moye

Inspired by the traditional folk textiles of Eastern Europe (see right), Katrin Moye makes delightful ceramics and tableware. She recently designed a bag for Clothkits, which features her ‘Fox and Hens’ pattern.

4. Illustrations from Debbie Greenaway

A recent graduate from the Northern School of Design, Debbie Greenaway is currently making a children’s book full of her playful illustrations.

5. Jewellery from Bethan Lloyd Worthington

Bethan Lloyd Worthington makes unique pieces of quirky ceramic jewellery (see right). Find her amongst other international makers at The Shop Floor Project.

6. Bookmaking by Lucy May Schofield

Lucy May Schofield’s intricately made artist books feature sensitive designs and delicate text (see image below). She also runs regular bookmaking courses at the Hotbed Press in Salford.

Win an exclusive Fish and Chips tote bag by Megan Price’s Mr. PS label. This competition has now closed. Outraged that we’ve left your favourite retail designer off the list? Leave us a comment and we’ll update the list in the autumn.
