Buy some art at Manchester’s Cube – and help the people of Haiti while you’re at it
Although the world is beginning to turn its gaze away from Haiti, it seems that the people and communities of Port-au-Prince and the surrounding area have not been forgotten. Every week seems to bring a fresh fundraiser, from authors reading their work to sponsored runs and bake sales.
Next Tuesday, Cube (with the help of Salford University and artist Suzanne Smith) does its bit for Haiti, with a one-day exhibition and silent auction. Over 40 artists have donated work, ranging from little known graduates to, it is rumored, exclusive signed posters by the likes of Gustav Metzger.
The exhibition opens at Midday on Tuesday but email bids are being accepted now. Find out more and get your bids in - it’s for a good cause, after all.
Haiti Art Auction, Cube, Tuesday 30 March. Exhibition opens Midday; silent bidding 12pm-5pm; launch and live auction 6pm. Image: Heidi Schaefer, Untitled (from the Sticks and Stones series), reserve price: £20
