Win film premiere tickets, a meal for two, a DVD and magazine subscription

Cornerhouse, the Deaf Institute and Corridor8 magazine have put their heads together to offer our readers a rather special prize.
The deal has been set up by the lovely folk at Cornerhouse, Manchester’s art, film and theatre hub to mark the launch of their artists’ film series on DVD – original films created by award-winning artists right here in Manchester. To celebrate the launch, we are giving away:
- Two tickets to the screening of the Swandown premiere, starring psychogeographer Iain Sinclair and filmmaker Andrew Kötting
- A meal for two with wine at the Deaf Institute
- An annual subscription to art journal Corridor8
- And a copy of Self Made, the film by Turner Prize-winner Gillian Wearing, on DVD.
The films. Cornerhouse doesn’t just show films; it also helps get new arthouse flicks made. Last year it (along with the Abandon Normal Devices festival) commissioned Turner Prize-winner Gillian Wearing to make Self Made, a strangely compelling film that blurs the line between life and art. It’s available on DVD now. The second film in the series premieres in Manchester on 22 June (8pm) and that’s when your prize night begins. You’ll be invited to the premiere of Swandown, a film that features two men exploring England. On a pedalo. Um, in the shape of a giant swan. The men in question are filmmaker Andrew Kötting and psychogeographer Iain Sinclair. Between them, they ride said pedalo from Hastings to Hackney. Swandown documents their epic journey, on which they are joined by guests including Stewart Lee, Alan Moore and Dudley Sutton. There’s a post-screening Q&A with the filmmakers that night, which also marks the start of the AND Festival 2012.
The food. That same night, you’ll also have the chance to eat and dine in the suitably eclectic surrounds of the nearby Deaf Institute – a meal for two with wine is up for grabs (to be taken on 22 June).
The extras. And on top of that, you’ll also get a subscription to Corridor8 magazine, the art journal for the north (whose launch issue in 2009 featured none other than new work by Iain Sinclair), as well as a copy of Gillian Wearing’s film, Self Made, on DVD. To enter all you need to do is answer the question below.
The competition closes at 5pm on Wednesday 16 May 2012.
Terms and conditions: The winner will be the first correct entry selected at random from all correct entries received. No purchase necessary. No cash alternative given. Employees of Creative Tourist and Cornerhouse, Trof, Corridor8, and associated companies, are not eligible to enter. The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Winners will be notified as soon as possible after the closing date. Only one entry per person. Entrants will automatically be added to the Creative Tourist mailing list.
