Jake Chapman in conversation with Tim Marlow
Dec 15, 2009 | Comments: 0
Jake Chapman, one half of infamous art duo, Jake and Dinos Chapman, talks candidly to White Cube’s Tim Marlow – about the ‘fractious activity’ that characterises working with his brother, and how their art deliberately ‘undermines the principles of idealistic, grown-up culture’. Although the Chapmans rose to prominence as part of the YBA movement, Jake maintains that their work was, for them, a political act first, with ‘the idea of making art’ coming second.
Jake Chapman also describes his dysfunctional romantic novel, The Marriage of Reason and Squalor, in this exclusive event held at Manchester Art Gallery in early November 2009.
