Cinema in Manchester and the North
Tom Grieve, Cinema EditorThis May, HOME highlight the films of Ealing Studios, a British film institution, with a season of films showcasing classic comedies alongside some rarer titles. Featuring such luminous names as Alec Guinness and Alexander Mackendrick, film fans can expect entertainment and an insight into post-war Britain.
Ealing isn’t the only institution to get the retrospective treatment this May though. At Showroom, Ryan Gosling gets his due with Not Just Ken, a programme of curated hits from the versatile actor’s back catalogue including favourites such as The Notebook, Drive, La La Land and Blade Runner 2049. These are some of the biggest films of the last 20 years, so it’s a treat to see them back on the big screen.
At CULTPLEX, we’re also looking forward to the return of GASP Horror Film Festival, which is back with a weekend of brand new scary movies, while there’s still time to catch some Spanish and Latin American movies as part of HOME’s 30th ¡Viva! Film Festival.
